We have begun to provide our hauling services to a town in the Orlando—Kissimmee—Sanford metropolitan area called Lady Lake. Located in Central Florida, this small town of over 14,000 residents is near many of the metro area’s most popular tourist attractions and the Florida Turnpike. With an average temperature of 73 degrees and a large amount of available recreation activities, this picturesque town is worthy of your attention.
The rapidly growing business town of Lady Lake turned to us for its assistance in keeping the area as environmentally friendly as possible. We recently signed a contract stating that we will be providing them with our hauling services for their sludge containers for the next five years.
While sludge containers might sound like a Halloween decoration you were hoping to put on your front porch this year, these actually serve a very different purpose. In an effort to save money and help the environment, the town of Lady Lake has begun to recycle their human waste into sludge containers. The refuse is then transformed from liquid waste into a dirt-like material that can later be turned into fertilizer.
Often referred to as biosolids or night soil, this type of fertilizer is treated by local sewage treatment plants before it can be applied to croplands.
Regardless of the different opinions on this matter, human waste in sludge containers is more beneficial to the environment and residents’ pockets. The town of Lady Lake saves thousands of dollars each year by recycling their waste this way.
We are no stranger to helping the environment. The company is LEED certified by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and is capable of recycling massive amounts of debris in an environmentally friendly way. We recycle everything we can in an effort to reduce the amount of waste contributed to landfills and reduce greenhouse emissions.
